My Bloody Valentine (2009) Movie Review

My Bloody Valentine 2009 Movie Review

My Bloody Valentine 2009 was released in 3d so this was a very gore filled movie to make for a successful 3d experience. My Bloody Valentine 3d in 2009 was a remake to the My Bloody Valentine that was released in 1981. These two movies were similar but not identical to one another as I explain in the My Bloody Valentine Compare and Contrast Post.

My Bloody Valentine 2009 would remind a person who grew up on 1980s horror as an 80s horror film brought into the new millennium. It is not the best horror movie I have ever seen and other than the gore element I don’t see how My Bloody Valentine 2009 could be considered a horror movie because I would classify it as more of a thriller or a mystery than a horror movie if it wasn’t for the gore element.

To me gore is not scary, and I know a lot of people would disagree. The killer miner in My Bloody Valentine 2009 would remind a true horror fan of Jason Vorhees with how well he swings his pickaxe into his victims. It is like how Jason would sing the objects he swings in different movies to kills his victims.

The miner seemed invincible in My Bloody Valentine 2009 and one thing that is mentioned in the Compare and Contrast of the original My Bloody Valentine in 1981 and My Bloody Valentine 3d in 2009 is that you see a whole lot more of the killer physically killing people in the 2009 version of My Bloody Valentine.

If you like gore filled movies with extreme kills on a monstrous level like with an invincible killer like Jason Voorhes or Michael Myers then I would recommend the 2009 version of My Bloody Valentine to you over the 1981 version of My Bloody Valentine as I mentioned in the Compare and Contrast article on My Bloody Valentine.

Also as I mentioned in the Valentine movie review article My Bloody Valentine would be another holiday specific horror movie that would be awesome to watch on a traditional basis for the Valentine’s Day holiday especially if you are in a relationship where both you and you significant other are into movies of a horror element. It’s not a great movie but it is worth a watch if you are a horror fan and if you are a gore fan involving an indestructible being wheeling a pickaxe or other deadly objects in order to take advantage of their victims and send them off planet earth by causing their extreme death.
