Elvis (1979) & Elvis (2022) Movies Compare & Contrast
Elvis (1979) & Elvis (2022)
Movies Compare & Contrast
Elvis 1979 was a made for TV movie
while Elvis 2022 was released to theaters and even with both being biopics,
they were both very different.
Elvis 1979 focuses more on Elvis’s
life including a story about the girlfriend he had in the beginning of his career,
way before his time in the military when he met his soon-to-be Priscilla. The
Elvis 1979 television biopic really told a lot of things that I saw when you breakdown
the material that this material helped make up the movie Priscilla and was also
told in the 2022 Elvis biopic that came to theaters only in a different way and
inside a different kind of chain of events.
Both movies speak of Elvis’s time in
the military but Elvis 2022 made it out that it was Colonel Tom Parker’s way of
saving face with Elvis Presley’s image and the way he sung, and the thought of Elvis
joining the military would show the world Elvis was a decent man. While inside
the 1979 Elvis made for TV made it out that Elvis Presley just made the
decision to join.
The 2022 Elvis movie featured Elvis’s
business relationship with Colonel Tom Parker the backbone of the 2022 Elvis
biopic was about their business relationship. While in the 1979 Elvis made biopic
for television Colonel Tom Parker was just a footnote in the movie. Meaning he
was around but very little was mentioned about Colonel Tom Parker or the business
relationship that Colonel Tom Parker had with Elvis Presley.
Another thing both movies mention
that people think it is a man of African American race singing when people
heard the records Elvis Presley put out but only the 2022 Elvis movie that went
to theaters nationwide mentions how close Elvis Presley was to members of the
African American community.
Both movies tell the story of the
life of Elvis Presley in different ways but overall the two ways of telling the
life of Elvis Presley were not a complete multiverse event. They weren’t so
different that you would be able to say that this one or that one is more accurate
than the other one. They both hit on the key notes of the life of Elvis Preseley
The King of Rock n Roll. Both movies are an enjoyment to any true Elvis Presley
fan young or old. Elvis is a person who is often imitated but never duplicated.
There will not be another Elvis Presley and no matter how you tell his story it
is still his story and it is a story most people would consider fiction if they
weren’t around and didn’t know the truth!
Elvis Presley truly when the credits
run no matter what movie you watch about him is and always will be The King of
Rock n Roll and nobody no matter how they tell the story in book form or in a
movie can ever change Elvis Presley is King.
