Valentine (2001) Movie Review
Valentine (2001)
Movie Review
Valentine is Rated
R for strong horror violence and language. Valentine’s key stars for the 2001
horror film were Denise Richards, Paige Prescott, David Boreanaz, Adam Carr, Marley
Shelton, Kate Davies, Jessica Capshaw, and Dorothy Wheeler. This
horror movie went along the lines of other horror movies in this era, which
were slasher films. A slasher film era that began with Scream in 1996 and was the
type of horror movie that was distributed for years which the horror movies
made I this era consisted of several Scream sequels, two Urban Legend movies,
Valentine, among other horror films which fell into the horror movie slasher
era of horror movies.
Valentine is a revenge movie with the outcast students
from lower levels in school seeking to gain revenge on those popular kids that
caused them trouble at a Valentine’s dance back in their day. The outcast was
seeking to gain revenge against the popular kids on Valentine’s Day many years
later inside the popular kids adulthood.
If you enjoy slasher movies honestly, I believe that you
will enjoy Valentine because there is nothing any different from this slasher
movie than any other slasher movies that was going on inside this era of
horror. Take into consideration this was before the torture porn of era of horror
began with the initial Saw movie back in 2004. The differences between a
slasher horror movie and a torture porn horror movie are below….
·
A slasher film is a
subgenre of horror films involving a killer stalking and murdering a group of
people, usually by use of bladed or sharp tools such as knives, chainsaws,
scalpels, etc.

A Torture Porn a genre of horror films in which sadistic violence or torture is a central aspect of the plot

genre
world, and if you enjoy slasher movies like I said previously I feel Valentine
is an enjoyable movie, and I feel that Valentine holds up in 2024 if you
enjoyed slasher horror movies back in the late nineties beginning with the
first Scream in 1996. There aren’t too many holidays specific to horror movies.
Valentine’s Day is a great holiday to have a holiday specific horror movie
because Valentine’s Day is a day of love, and in 2001 you didn’t have a choice
of a romantic movie to see around Valentine’s Day based on my research. So, going
on a date to see Valentine in 2001 for a Valentine’s Day was a good option regarding
a Valentine’s Day related movie. Especially among horror movie fans, and it is
still a great option for a Valentine’s Day watch in present day.
The only other options off the top
of my head for Valentine’s Day horror fans would be the vintage 1981 My Bloody
Valentine or the 2009 My Bloody Valentine Reboot as like I said there aren’t
too many holidays specific horror movies available for horror fan’s time to
enjoy on certain occasions.
Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t a
multiple star horror movie. This isn’t a best picture Oscar winner by any means
but if you enjoy the slasher style horror movie then Valentine is worth the
time to watch whether you are with your date or your are by yourself. It is a
great Valentine’s Day viewing for the single person on Valentine’s Day and is
my routine Valentine’s Day tradition because I really do like the movie, and I
love horror, so being a single male watching Valentine is my routine Valentine’s
Day Tradition like watching all of the Die Hard movies being Christmas Eve and
Christmas Day is my routine Christmas Tradition for myself.
I don’t see anything changing with
either of the above traditions so with that being said I will end this review
here by saying once again if you are a slasher horror movie enthusiast then I recommend
Valentine for you regardless of the day of the year because you don’t just have
to watch holiday movies on that specific holiday!
