Summer Bash 8/5/22
CCWA Throw a Summer
Bash in Lafayette
Chattanooga
Championship Wrestling Alliance took over the Lafayette Recreation Center on
Friday August 5th. The headline main event was The Legendary Fly Guy
putting up his CCWA World Heavyweight Championship against the seven-footer Hunter
Wolfe.
Summer Bash
was the night of the heel stable led by the stable’s manager Roger Cantrell who
sent a message to Fly Guy and the CCWA on July 22nd. Roger Cantrell
directed The Legendary Fly Guy to polish his CCWA World Heavyweight
Championship title up in that video message because Mr. Cantrell was crystal
clear that Hunter Wolfe was going to leave Lafayette Georgia with the CCWA
World Heavyweight Championship around his seven-foot waist.
Roger
Cantrell didn’t only manage Hunter Wolfe, but Roger Cantrell began to put together
a giant heel stable in CCWA which included Mike Clay, The Misfits, and he interrupted
a match convincing two men who were competing in that match to exit the ring
and join Mr. Cantrell’s heel stable to further their opportunities inside the
world of wrestling.
This giant
heel stable at the first CCWA I have seen was very interesting. I would love to
see where this heel stable goes. Roger Cantrell’s heel stable was forming faster
than the New World Order. It was wild! You didn’t know what to expect at
Chattanooga Championship Wrestling Alliance’s Summer Bash. The heel stable played
a key role in Summer Bash as the heel stable started off the show with Hunter
Wolfe trying to step up against Iron-Mann. I was hoping Iron-Mann would Arn
Anderson spinbuster the giant through the folding table to the left of where
Iron-Mann was standing at the beginning of Summer Bash.
The CCWA
hit you with action right off the bat in order to set up that night’s main
event. When Mike Clay, Hunter Wolfe, and Roger Cantrell came out at the very
beginning of that night’s event to do the initial heel spot. It was exciting. I
was wondering if Iron-Mann was about to take a beatdown though, and I hoped he wouldn’t.
I was on the edge of my seat during the opening segment and off and on through
the night. Especially as Roger Cantrell’s group continued to grow in numbers.
The opening
contest showed how valuable having Roger Cantrell in your corner can be. Roger
Cantrell’s value continued throughout the night as the majority of the heels
Cantrell managed won in their contest. There was some of the greatest wrestling
matches I had seen though. Chattanooga Championship Wrestling Alliance had a
different feel to it than other Independent Wrestling Shows I have seen. I have
seen a lot of Independent Wrestling Shows as of late considering the last
Professional Wrestling Show I went to was on September 6th, 2012. That
was virtually a decade ago since I have seen a Professional Wrestling Promotion,
so I have seen a lot of Independent Wrestling Promotions in the past decade. I
can honestly say CCWA had my attention locked wondering what was going to
happen next!
Roger
Cantrell’s heels won throughout the night, intermission hit, and then Summer
Bash hit back up with women’s competition. I honestly don’t see too much women
competition between the Independent Wrestling Promotions I attend regularly. The
women’s division is sort of like a special feature that will happen every so
often like midget wrestling That night at CCWA Summer Bash AEW Dark’s Shalonce
Royal took on B8ashley Bones. This was my second time seeing Shalonce Royal
wrestle in person. The first time I saw Shalonce wrestle in person took place
at the Unchained 4 event in Warner Robbins, GA back up in the year when she
challenged for the NWA Women’s Championship.
I don’t remember
if I had ever seen Bashley Bones wrestle anywhere. I sort of think I have seen
her wrestling at the Circus Tent Arena in Ringgold, but I honestly don’t remember.
What I do remember that even though I was distracted in conversation by the Vince
McMahon of Wrestling 4 A Cause Chattanooga Sir William talking business with me
that I was paying attention to this women’s division Chattanooga Championship
Wrestling Alliance match, and I feel that Shalonce Royal deserves a bigger deal
with AEW besides just being on AEW Dark.
Even if
they turned Shalonce Royal a heel and placed her with the baddies, I feel she
deserves a bigger push than being in dark matches on YouTube. I know it is about
the journey for anybody. I know the experience to know you are on All Elite
Wrestling’s YouTube Show is awesome in its own right, but I feel Shalonce Royal
deserves more! I feel a lot of women inside AEW deserve more so who am I to
judge?
Shalonce
Royal demonstrated her wrestling skills alongside her singing abilities and
picked up the victory over Bashley Bones.
The night
the transferred from the women’s division to the main event. Before anybody
knew it The Legendary Fly Guy was going head-to-head with Hunter Wolfe. There
were very hard-hitting chops and other actions all through this match. Such
hard hitting actions I heard them from where I was sitting at. These hard-hitting
actions took place as Roger Cantrell looked on and tried to get his man Hunter
Wolfe into the action, but Fly Guy showed why he is Legendary and why he is the
face of CCWA holding the Chattanooga Championship Wrestling Alliance World
Heavyweight Championship and didn’t back down from anything Hunter Wolfe was
throwing at him.
The crowd
could tell Hunter Wolfe was getting frustrated and the crowd had to know that
Roger Cantrell had a plan in the back of his mind as the match went back and
forth in and outside of the wrestling ring. The closing moments of the match
was taking place and Fly Guy hit his moonsault. The referee goes to count and
out of nowhere Mike Clay interrupts the match causing a disqualification. Which
means The Legendary Fly Guy gets to go home with his CCWA World Heavyweight
Championship Belt one more night.
It was a
wild night and one of the best nights I experienced at an Independent Wrestling
Event. I am looking forward to the announcement of the next Chattanooga
Championship Wrestling Alliance event because I am looking forward to seeing
where these storylines continue to go. Summer Bash was fresh! I give the show 5
Shuttle Kicks. It was a wild event and I am hoping that future CCWA events
really expand the storyline of Roger Cantrell’s faction and maybe Roger
Cantrell can get Bashley Bones to join his heel stable and Cantrell can begin a
true takeover of the CCWA similar to the NWO in WCW!
If you are
ever nearby a Chattanooga Championship Wrestling Alliance event I suggest you get
your tickets and go see the men and women of the CCWA in action because if you
don’t you will regret it!
